Hybrid Certified Da Vinci Resolve Training at HKBU during Pandemic
This year Certified DaVinci Resolve Training at Hong Kong Baptist University was supposed to start in February 2020. It did not happened as planned. Like most schools in Hong Kong, HKBU campus was closed for most months in the beginning of the year. With great effort, credits goes to the staff of HKBU, they managed to move some of their classes online with zoom, even with many educators who did not have any online training experiences before.
It was especially difficult for DaVinci Resolve Training as this is a hands-on class and the students need powerful laptop to run the DaVinci software. But the computer lab was closed. The equipment was not available. A window of opportunity opened in late July which the campus was partially opened with temperature checking, tracking and health security check in place. The class of 25 was made up of students staying in Mainland China and Hong Kong. After much discussion with the students and administrator, a hybrid class solution was agreed upon. Hold the class both in person and in Zoom at the same time. Students must be present at the allocated time for the class, either in person or in zoom. Giving flexibility and choice to the students, which they can make on their own decision. If they have the hardware and prefer to attend the class in Zoom, they would get the same attention as the people attending the class in person. With less people in class, social distancing between stations, and masks on for everyone, including the trainer, can be achieved at all time.
We are happy to announce that we finally finished this class in mid August. The students have all attempted and passed their certified DaVinci resolve 101 level exams! Congratulations, well done.
